The activities executed during the upgrade period are requested by the customer’s task document and they can include objective requirements of structural upgrades of the coach (without the ressistance structure)aswell as design. Therefor during the upgrade operations were executed modifications of the heating-ventilation types of the coaches (adaptation and modification of the ventilation and heating system by cycling the warm air near the windows), eco-toylets mounting, performant sound system mounting, modifying the electrical control panels by upgrading to performant components, smart access doors (with closing and self-block at a higher speed of 5km/h of the couch), using performant bogies (that can reach speeds higher than 160km/hour), using reinforced poliester/fiber doors (modulated elements used), in one word using last class materials.

Our History

S.C. Atelierele CFR Grivita S.A is a company with a long history in passenger coach maintenance, repairs, modernization, refurbishment and rebuilding. Also in the company are maintained and repaired a wide range of freight cars. The plant has been established in 1897 and was specialized in steam engines and passenger coach repairs. Over the years we have improved our technology and expertise, achieving a present top position among coach repair companies, covering home and international passenger coaches with special regime, sleeping coaches, restaurant coaches, saloon coaches, historic trains and administrative staff coaches.
Safety and comfort

In order to respond to the requests of our main beneficiaries, the last 4 years brought an increase in the action of rehabilitating the old passenger coaches and of bringing them up to modern requisites, both in terms of travel safety and comfort.
The coaches have been endowed with air conditioning, audio-video equipments, radio sound installations, ecologic sanitary installations, ergonomic furniture, automatic control devices with timing options, glass fiber polyester modules, electro-pneumatic brake system and inhibition system for the alarm signal etc.
Our specialists can provide the technical support, the production workshops have the necessary equipments to put into practice various solutions, whereas the organizational flexibility and existing endowments make us available for our clients’ multiple requests. We have the capability to refurbish the interiors, to mount equipments and installations of various degrees of complexity, to carry out rebuilding and modernization operations for a wide range of passenger coaches, built in our country or abroad, later or older generation, in small or large series.
For the repairs carried out in SC Atelierele CFR Grivita SA, we use latest generation equipments and subassemblies from well-known providers, such as: SMC, Festo, Vossloh, Dowalwerke, Semco, IFE, Escha, Turck, Faiveley, SACME, Kovis, Bonatrans, Taraflex, Altro etc.

Coach modernization
SC “Atelierele CFR Griviţa” SA runs a program for the modernization of the 1980, 2180 series coaches for the SNTFC CFR Călători SA operator. After modernization, the coaches will have the series 1976 variant II and 2176 variant II.
Periodical Repairs
IN 2011, SC “Atelierele CFR Griviţa” SA has started scheduled maintenance repairs on freight cars type Uagps, Uapps, Tals and Fals. For this kind of repairs we have obtained technical certifications according to Ministry of Transportation order no. 290/2000.
Passenger coaches maintenance
The maintenance of the coaches consists in determining the degree of wear, corroding or mechanical damage of the coach itself as well as the parts that form the coach. Thus, this analysis is done by lifting the coach and dismembers the elements that need repair activities or replacement with new parts.
Analysis is done with proper measure and checking equipment on the test bench, or if it suffices, only visually. The work done during the maintenance includes mechanical operations, welding, replacement or parts restore (generally, the inside fittings remain unmodified, mounted in the frame and it is verified only the good function of the cinematic elements).
Where it is necessary, the anti-corrosiveness system is restored by cleaning, primer painting, puttying and painting. It is verified the good function of the traffic safety systems (breaks, electrical installation, coupling and traction equipments), these functional inspections are done by registering the parameters of the equipments and parts separated from the couch.
